What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. Hair-like strokes are drawn with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows. Even though it's not as deep as the regular tattoo, it's still a tattoo because pigment is implanted under the skin. The results are a natural looking, fuller brow.

What to Expect

The Microblading procedure usually lasts around 90 minutes. Before the process even begins, you will have a one-on-one consultation with your service provider to ensure that we match the right eyebrow shape that best suites their needs and expectations. Also, the actual color of the brow will be selected in order to properly match the skin tone and desired finished look that you are looking for.

Before the procedure begins, we sit down and work with you to shape your brows with a pencil, allowing us to agree on the best color and shape to fit your face. Microblading does not require your entire eyebrow to be shaved and does not damage your natural hair.

Once everything is ready to go, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the area to minimize any discomfort. Once the procedure is complete, minor redness and swelling is expected to occur.

Before the Procedure:

  • No Botox treatments should be done 3 weeks prior or 4 weeks after procedure

  • No chemical peels 60 days before or after procedure (brows will peel quicker due to chemicals traveling under the skin)

  • No Retinols/Retin-A or other anti-aging/acne creams, or serums containing acids as these will fade brows prematurely

  • Do not work out or sweat heavily the day of the procedure (Or 2 weeks after)

  • Do not tan or have a sunburned face the day of the procedure

  • Do not take aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, or ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure

  • No waxing or tinting 3 days before procedure

  • No alcohol or caffeine 24 hrs before procedure

After Care:

  • Each hour for the remainder of the day following the microblading procedure, use a cotton swab to lightly wipe the microbladed area with distilled water.

***Rinsing the skin with distilled water helps to reduce scabbing by minimizing the accumulation of lymph, which is what the skin excretes to form a scab.

  • Use a clean, washed finger to lightly apply the specialized aftercare cream to the microbladed area. Remember, this process needs to be done once an hour for the rest of the day.

DAYS 2-7

  • Apply the specialized aftercare cream only one or two times per day.

  • Itching is likely to occur throughout the early stages of the microblading healing process so most clients typically only use the cream when they are experiencing itching.

  • Be mindful to limit the application of the aftercare cream to only twice per day to avoid suffocating the skin and interfering with the skin’s natural healing process.

***It is critical to avoid the following during all 14 days after your microblading procedure.

  • Touching the eyebrow area except only when following the aftercare instructions for Day 1 and also Days 2 - 7.

  • Scratching, picking or peeling the eyebrow area where the microblading occurred to prevent scarring and the pigment from being removed.

  • Sun exposure - sun tanning - salon tanning

  • Laser or chemical peels, and any other form of exfoliation

  • Exercise - participating in sports and activities that induce perspiration

  • Long, hot baths or showers - jacuzzis - saunas - swimming

  • Applying any creams to your face or neck containing retinol or glycolic acid.

  • Engaging in tasks like heavy household cleaning where airborne debris can become prevalent.

  • Transportation in vehicles where strong wind is present, for example; driving in cars with the windows down, convertibles, motorcycles, bicycles, and boats.

  • Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, as it can cause wounds to heal slower.

  • It’s now okay to resume all your normal activities except, continue to avoid any creams containing retinal or glycolic acid until after the completion of your microblading touch up appointment, and its healing process as well.
